Spectacular figures of a lovely masquerade ball couple (i.e. of a lady & gentleman), each finely modeled in action poses, their costumes & faces delicately painted in polychrome, each on a shaped, marbleized moriage beaded plinth base, marked on the undersides with a printed large blue feathered crossed arrow Bourdois & Bloch mark, 19th century, 19" tall for the man & a just a tad bit shorter for the lady, pair, excellent vintage condition (practically mint) with just two tiny paint flakes around the base rim of the man, totally unnoticeable but nevertheless mentioned for accuracy. Similar pair, except 22" tall & made by Vion & Baury, can be found on page 330 of ANTIQUE TRADER'S ANTIQUES & COLLECTIBLES 1998 PRICE GUIDE priced at $4400 (copy of picture included in sale) P.S. This same pair can also be seen in the Haley Mills movie "Pollyanna". It's the scene wherein the Aunt is brushing her hair in her bedroom & this magnificent couple can be seen gracing her vanity table in the background!

FYI: a similar pair, but done in soft peach hues, can be seen here, Lot 277, entitled A LARGE AND IMPRESSIVE PAIR OF FRENCH CHANTILLY PORCELAIN FIGURES early 19th century, of a man and woman in period dress with hand painted features (attribution), apparently unmarked. Height 20.5", with a price estimate of $2,000-$3,000:
