Whimsical baby boy posed in a sitting position with a cute pink diaper on & a grey tophat upon his blonde head, exquisitely modeled with side-glancing googley intaglio eyes, one-stroke eyebrows, open mouth, nicely blushed skin, molded curly blonde hair, chubby arms & legs ~ superb!, incised with the number 2870
on bottom of base, however identified as a Heubach in the catalogue entitled Theriault's "Touchstone" (catalogue 866, April 12, 1986, from the Anna Glassman Collection, figure 114)
, 19th century, just shy of 4.5" tall, excellent vintage condition with just a few typical firing cracks around his diaper & mold grooves atop his hat, which was obviously part of the manufacturing process but nevertheless mentioned for accuracy (please see pics).
FYI: this is the first time I've ever had the boy in my collection! :) The girl is more common, but both are still rare, as mentioned in the aforementioned catalogue. Here's your chance to own one-half of a very rarely found pair, especially the boy.
